Research on Posttraumatic Growth in Korea: Trends and future directions

Abstract
This study aimed to analyze the research trends in the 65 academic dissertations and papers published in journals in Korea during the period between 2005 and 2013, focusing on methodologies and contents. According to the results, it has been found that in the case of study carried out in terms of methodology, the number of studies focused on common people who reported a traumatic experience was the highest, and in the case of thematic trends, the process research accounted for the largest part. As for the developmental stages, the number of studies focused on adulthood was the highest, and in the case of trauma-causing accidents experienced by the participants in the studies, the experiences of disease and death accounted for the largest part. And the PTGI was the most used measuring instrument, and in the aspect of research design and major data analysis methods, only the cross-sectional studies were carried out. It was also found that there were less qualitative studies than quantitative studies, among which the correlational analyses was the most used method. In terms of the contents, it was found that the studies on posttraumatic growth were mostly focused on gender, age, including rumination factors that are known as a cognitive process. Based on the findings in this study, the implications were discussed with suggestions.
